When a soccer ball reaches the end of its use, its value seems exhausted. Yet its material, geometry, and the marks of its history are still there.
PANGAEA begins with what is usually overlooked and observes it from a different perspective.
It is then that what seemed to have lost value becomes material for a new purpose.

Every PANGAEA begins with a reclaimed soccer ball.
Disassembled by hand by Thomas Backinmind, panel by panel, it is transformed and rebuilt through Italian design and craftsmanship.
Not simple recycling: the material changes form without losing its history.

Disassemble
Reclaimed soccer balls are not ready for use: in the studio, they move through several stages of preparation, including cutting, cleaning, and coloring. Every step calls for decisions, variations, and gestures belonging to attentive handwork.
The treatment gives the material new quality while preserving traces of its previous life.

Reveal
After being pierced and cut, the natural leather is colored with water-based dyes. Every process is carried out by hand.

Rebuild
The renewed material changes state through workmanship, adaptation, and handcrafted reassembly.
The panels are stitched again through long handwork, together with natural leather that is worked and colored by hand.
Handrecycled is born from the meeting of handmade work and recycling.
