Thomas Backinmind has built his path across different disciplines. Art, design, graphics, craftsmanship, and electronics become tools of one way of observing and making. Each new interest is explored until it becomes a skill that can be applied.

From this cross-disciplinary attitude comes PANGAEA: a project where material, form, technique, and communication are developed as parts of a single identity.

Where transformation takes place.

PANGAEA is conceived, developed, and made in Stra, in the Venice area along the Riviera del Brenta. The workshop is at once studio, atelier, and showroom: the place where the project takes shape and is told.

Here Thomas personally carries out every stage, from preparing materials to final construction. The same space brings together design, experimentation, photography, graphics, and the development of visual identity. The studio can be visited by appointment.

FROM THE OBJECT TO ITS IMAGE

PANGAEA passes through one person.

PANGAEA does not come from a division between those who imagine, design, and make. Thomas personally oversees the conception, development, and construction of every object, keeping the same perspective from the first intuition to the final form.

Each piece passes through the same hands that gave rise to the project. Product, image, and story thus share one identity.

An independent project, recognized over time.

PANGAEA Africa was a finalist in the Best Green Handbag category at the Independent Handbag Designer Awards in New York in 2018.

Thomas's research has also been recognized by the Luxembourg Art Prize and documented in numerous articles.
